How Between Us Began
If you've been part of the Science with Soul community for a while, you may already know or have interacted with Lilith along the way.
Lilith works alongside Dr. Lotte behind the scenes and wears more hats than either of them could probably name. She helps produce Science with Soul, works with their wonderful guests, and has a hand in so much of what you see—from their website and newsletters to social media, course design, events, and many of the ideas they bring into the world.
She also happens to be Dr. Lotte's daughter.
And they talk. A lot.
They talk about life. Healing. Spirituality. Science. Intuition. Near-death experiences. The unexplained. The things they believe. The things they question. The things they're navigating in life. And the questions neither of them can stop asking.
And somewhere along the way, they started thinking… Maybe we should turn the microphones on.
And that's how Between Us began.
Every other week, alongside the guest conversations you already know and love on Science with Soul, Dr. Lotte and Lilith invite you into a more personal kind of conversation.
They've been thinking for a while now about how much we all need spaces where we can simply come together, be curious, ask the bigger questions, laugh, wonder, and talk openly about the things that don't always fit into everyday conversation.
So they decided to create one.
Between Us is their invitation to pull up a chair, pour a cup of tea or coffee, and join them for the kinds of conversations they already have when the microphones aren't on.
Think of it as sitting around the table with friends, talking about the things you don't get to talk about everywhere else.
They hope it becomes more than something you listen to.
They hope it feels like a place you belong.
The Voices & Hearts Behind Between Us
Dr. Lotte Valentin brings a remarkable blend of medicine, spirituality, intuition, lived experience, and an insatiable curiosity about the mysteries of life and what lies beyond to Between Us.
An N.M.D., Creator of Kindraya® Ancestral Healeing, Evidential Psychic Medium, Medical Medium, Award-Winning Author, International Keynote Speaker, and Spiritual Teacher, Dr. Lotte has spent decades exploring the intersection of science and spirituality, consciousness and healing, the physical and the unseen.
At the heart of her work is a deep belief in our interconnectedness and in the possibility of healing across generations. She is the creator of Kindraya® Ancestral Healing, a transformational approach to exploring and healing patterns carried through the ancestral lineage, and the award-winning author of Med School after Menopause: The Journey of My Soul.
Her work and teachings have reached audiences around the world. Dr. Lotte has created Ancestral Healing Journeys and meditations in collaboration with Hemi-Sync and is a faculty member at The Shift Network and Humanity’s Team. She also teaches for the Theosophical Society and other organizations, is a frequent speaker at the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS), and a member of the National Organization for Medical Intuition (NOMI).
Yet the path that brought Dr. Lotte to this work was anything but ordinary.
Born and raised in Sweden in a family immersed in medicine, Dr. Lotte later came to the United States, built a career, became an entrepreneur, raised a family, and lived much of her life as an atheist.
Then, in 1992, everything she believed about life, death, and consciousness was turned upside down.
Just days after the birth of her daughter Lilith during the 1992 Landers earthquake, Dr. Lotte had her first near-death experience in an emergency room, during which she experienced herself outside of her physical body. Two years later, while still struggling to regain her health, she experienced a second near-death out-of-body experience.
Those experiences changed the trajectory of her life—and began a spiritual awakening that would continue unfolding for decades.
What followed was a deep search to understand what she had experienced and what it might mean. Dr. Lotte immersed herself in spiritual teachings, religion, consciousness, quantum physics, healing traditions, and scientific theories about the soul and the universe—often joking that she must have read half of the San Francisco Public Library in her search for answers.
Along the way, abilities she had never expected began to emerge. Dr. Lotte became clairvoyant, clairaudient, and clairsentient, opening an entirely new dimension of her life and understanding of consciousness.
And as she continued searching for answers, another unexpected direction emerged: Dr. Lotte was guided by Spirit to go to medical school.
At 54 years old, she was accepted into medical school and went on to become a Naturopathic Medical Doctor—bringing together two worlds that had become inseparable in her own life: science and spirituality.
Her spiritual development continued alongside her medical path. Dr. Lotte explored and trained in healing traditions including Shamanism, Craniosacral Therapy, and Reiki, and later traveled to England to study at the renowned Arthur Findlay College, where she trained in mediumship, trance healing, and spirit portraiture.
Her life and work have become a meeting place for these many worlds: medicine and healing, science and spirituality, near-death experiences and consciousness, intuition and mediumship, the wisdom of our ancestors, and the deeper mysteries of the soul.
And after decades of searching, studying, experiencing, healing, and teaching, Dr. Lotte remains as curious about life's great mysteries as ever.
That same curiosity has been woven through the relationship she shares with her daughter, Lilith, for more than three decades.
Their lives have been spiritually intertwined from the very beginning. Lilith's birth and Dr. Lotte's spiritual awakening unfolded almost simultaneously, and together they have spent a lifetime talking, wondering, questioning, laughing, learning, and exploring many of the very mysteries that have shaped Dr. Lotte's life and work.
Now, for Between Us, they're bringing those conversations to the microphone.
Dr. Lotte brings decades of knowledge, medicine, spiritual exploration, extraordinary personal experiences, stories, curiosity, humor, and a lifelong desire to understand the deeper mysteries of our existence. Lilith brings her own lived experiences, perspective, intuition, curiosity, humor, and questions.
And together, there is no shortage of things they want to talk about.
Lilith Valentin brings a unique blend of creativity, curiosity, spirituality, and lived experience to Between Us.
Long before stepping behind a microphone, Lilith grew up on the stage. Trained as a professional ballet dancer from a young age, she performed at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco before audiences of more than 3,500 people regularly with over 200 shows. Years spent immersed in movement, music, and deeply connected to the body eventually led her toward a different kind of exploration—one that moved beyond performance and into the relationship between body, mind, energy, and spirit.
Lilith went on to complete an 800-hour yoga teacher training at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts and became a certified children’s and teens’ yoga teacher through Yoga Garden (now Folk Yoga). She is trained in Yoga Nidra through the Desai Method, Polarity Therapy, and Craniosacral Therapy, and enjoys offering sound healing through crystal singing bowls.
For Lilith, however, spirituality was never something she discovered later in life. It was woven into the world she grew up in. As Dr. Lotte’s daughter, conversations about energy, chakras, intuition, consciousness, healing, vibrational medicine, near-death experiences, and the unseen aspects of life were part of everyday life. Lilith remembers learning about the work of Donna Eden when she was around eleven—and being acutely aware that most kids her age weren't having conversations about chakras and energy medicine at home.
And for those familiar with Dr. Lotte’s story, there is a deeply personal connection they may not realize: Lilith was born during the 1992 Landers earthquake—the same extraordinary series of events surrounding her birth that would ultimately lead to Dr. Lotte’s near-death experience just days later and change the course of her life.
In many ways, Lilith’s arrival became a catalyst for the experience that would transform Dr. Lotte’s understanding of life, death, consciousness, and the soul. Their lives have been spiritually intertwined from the very beginning, with the beginning of Lilith’s life and the beginning of Dr. Lotte’s spiritual awakening unfolding simultaneously.
As Lilith grew older, spirituality became something she explored through her own experiences and understanding. Naturally intuitive from a young age, her spiritual experiences have included prophetic dreams, a spontaneous regression that brought past-life memories into greater focus, and a deep sense of connection to what she understands as soul family—adding another dimension to the spiritual world that had surrounded her since childhood.
Lilith has spent years navigating complex chronic illness, serious periods of illness, and major surgeries, including a complete hysterectomy before the age of 30 and, more recently, a renal autotransplant. These experiences have profoundly shaped and altered her—not only physically, but in the way she understands healing, resilience, joy, purpose, and what it means to build a meaningful life within circumstances you never imagined for yourself.
Illness has been part of defining her life journey and altered the course of her life and asked her to reconsider what healing actually means when healing doesn't necessarily mean returning to the person or the life you had before, but discovering a new way of living.
It has also taught her that pain and joy are not mutually exclusive—that a life can hold loss, uncertainty, laughter, love, beauty, purpose, and profound gratitude at the same time. And that sometimes creating a life you love means learning to love a life that looks very different from the one you once imagined.
Her path has given her something that cannot be learned through training alone: the perspective that comes from having life ask you difficult questions earlier than you ever expected.
On Between Us, Lilith brings her own experiences, perspective, curiosity, humor, and questions to the conversation, alongside something equally unique: a lifetime of knowing Dr. Lotte as both the physician, healer, and spiritual teacher many people know—and simply, her mom.
Together, they invite you to pull up a chair and join them for the conversations, stories, questions, laughter, and unexpected places that can unfold when a mother and daughter who have spent a lifetime exploring some of life’s biggest questions finally turn on the microphones.
